Can you believe that May is already here the last
month has had us completely busy. It was a blessing
to catch up with many of you. As the summer begins
we hope to connect with many more of you. We have
a quick list of news items to go over, so lets
get right to it.
P.O.D. On The Tonight
Show This Wednesday May 7th
We will be performing "Tell Me Why"
at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, we know that
many So Cal Warriors stood in line and were bummed
to find out we were unable to make the show on
release day. Would love to see some Warriors out
in the audience, other guests will include former
President Jimmy Carter and from The Office, Jenna
Fischer.
Addicted Video
The Addicted video is popping up in various places,
an edited for TV version is now on MTV2 and will
be released to MTVU on Monday. It is also being
featured on a few radio
stations websites. You can still see the UNEDITED
version on both YouTube/ThePODChannel
and MySpace.
We have an exclusive inside look
into the video as Michael Maxxis gives his Directors
Commentary on "Addicted".
P.O.D. Addicted music
video symbolism "The song’s message is quite succinctly
and directly defined in its name, and I wanted
to actualize an array of interpretable images
that would symbolically scream it. And, to augment
the metaphoric vignettes, I felt it was critical
to film a performance that was as visually ferocious
as the track.
Some of the imagery in the video is obvious and
doesn’t need much explanation, but there
are definitely some sections that are quite cryptic,
which I would like to decode for you. To start,
the woman wearing the veil and holding the light
orb is a sort of fortuneteller bookend. She holds
the crystal ball that is granting us access to
the unhinged and off center imagery.
The first place she takes us is into the basement
where a man is seducing and then devouring raw
eggs. He is caressing and appreciating the unborn/unknown
and once he gets a taste, he consumes everything
that is placed in front of him – the yoke
of one egg drips down his face while he reaches
for another – he can’t get enough
and needs more before even finishing eating what’s
still in his mouth. This is symbolic in a very
broad sense to many addictions. We tip toe on
the fringes, kicking the tires of curiosity, but
once we can’t resist the temptation anymore,
we take that step and more often than not we are
eaten by quicksand.
The next vignette we are introduced to is the
little boy smoking a cigarette next to a man’s
needle injected thigh that pumps the pedal of
a stationary bike. This vignette is easier to
interpret, and is basically calling out today’s
role models. Kids look up to both their parents
and a myriad of other role models that are placed
in front of them via the internet, television,
radio, etc., and unfortunately, many of those
role models are poisonous – and you know
the ones I’m talking about.
The third vignette is the obese man lying on a
large pile of fish. This sequence carries great
biblical symbolism and was inspired by Luke 5:6:
"And when they had done this, they caught
a great number of fish, and their net was breaking."
We are addressing one of the most abhorrent tendencies
of human nature – greed. Fish were a staple
of Galilee, and therefore it became a mechanism
of power. Greed is perhaps the most dangerous
and common addiction on earth, and it is perhaps
the most overlooked.
The old dying lady on crutches is our only real
taste of reality in the video, which is why I
feel she is so important. She is on the end of
a very hard, painful, and lonely journey that
is a consequence of choice – poor choices
that she made. This is a real end that is all
too common for many of us.
Next up is the young girl imprisoned behind a
brick wall, dancing in bubbles blown onto her
by a crazy old woman. We are saying with this
vignette that our children must start life from
behind a brick wall that we already built before
they were born. When someone falls victim to addiction,
the effects are far reaching, and nothing is more
unfair and sad than the consequences inflicted
on the lives of their children. Then, all that
child has is her dreams and the reality that exists
when she closes her eyes.
The symbolism of the evil barber is quite similar
to the little girl dancing in bubbles. In this
scene a masked barber cuts away at a young girl’s
hair with a large knife. The barber represents
addiction itself, as it cuts away at the innocence
of youth.
Finally, we have the beautiful women in wheelchairs.
Perhaps one of the most distasteful and damaging
addictions is vanity, and the weight that is placed
on women to be physically beautiful. The psychological
effects that this pressure has on many women is
immeasurable, and needs to be stopped. Where does
our definition of beauty begin and where does
it end? Unfortunately, it very rarely stops inside
a person, and therefore many peoples’ sense
of self is diminished and marginalized by how
they look in the mirror (from head to toe!). I
wanted the viewer to be attracted to, and dazzled
by the women when they were only shown shots of
her face, and then I wanted the viewer to be conscious
of how they felt about her when it was revealed
that she is crippled. Does their attraction to
her change? Where is the line on beauty drawn?
In summation, I’d like to thank P.O.D. for
giving me the opportunity to work with them to
bring this video to life. It was an absolute pleasure
to work with such inspired artists and genuine
men. Not one interesting visual would have been
possible had it not been for the sincerity that
I was able to draw from the song.

We just got back from spending the last couple
weeks hitting up radio stations, we know many

watched the Acoustic OnSlaught Tour. But it was
a great run and even though each radio station

that were able to show up and hang out for a little

Sonny to make rare personal
appearance! (This Sunday)
This morning Sonny, Marcos, Traa, and Wuv board
a plane to begin a 25-city radio promotion tour.
The boys will be visiting stations across the
U.S. and even playing "Tell Me Why"
at select stations.
During the tour, Sonny has agreed to make a rare
personal appearance to share his story.
"Sonny has expressed interest in making some
select personal appearances this year," said
long-time manager, Tim Cook. "Sonny has so
much good will out there. I think people getting
a chance to hear his story, up front and personal,
is going to be hugely inspiring."

This song has a bit of history because this is
the first song the re-united P.O.D. (Sonny,Marcos,Wuv,Traa)

Release Day Is Here! After months and months of
preparation the album Warriors have been waiting

Leno Postponed
Sonny's voice is completely out, the last few
days he'd been trying to save up his voice as
much as he could as it started going out the last
couple days of the tour. By the end of the evening
Monday his voice was blown. Please pray that his
voice/throat will heal soon. Leno has been postponed
as a result. We thank our family for all the love
and prayers whenever we're in need!

Merry Christmas Warriors! We know everyone is
getting ready for Christmas, but we just had a

December is officially here, so we posted "Christmas
In Cali" on our MySpace, its our rendition
of Run DMC's "Christmas in Hollis" so
be sure to add it to your MySpace today and enjoy
it through out the month. The month of December
means some very exciting news is heading your
way! First of all we have a huge set of surprises
that will launch next week. We have a brand new
feature which allows us to stay connected, and
we are excited to announce a FREE show this month
too. So lets get to it!

Well many of you might of noticed our recently
updated MySpace layout. This was just the beginning,
and yes we know many of you want the layout. Hopefully
soon we will be offering some layouts for you
to use on your profile so just sit tight.
Beginning MONDAY Dec 3rd through Dec 10th we will
begin revealing the album cover...yes the word
revealing does indeed mean that you will not see
the cover in one piece. But its ok, during the
reveal you will be able to participate in a contest
and win FREE STUFF!
All you need to do is keep an eye on PayableOnDeath.com
starting Monday and then every day after that
for 8 days more of the cover will be revealed.
We know your going to love the album cover. We
are also contemplating giving you the release
date once the album cover is completed. If we
should drop the release date hit us up on MySpace
and give us your most convincing plea!
WANT TO BE PART OF THE

The P.O.D. Mob that is, we have finally joined
the 'text revolution'. You can now join us on
Mozes. You will be able to text us, we can text
you. And the best part is we can send you photos,
and you can send us photos. At shows you might
win backstage passes, shirts, music. Also for
anyone who signs up before the album cover is
completely unveiled you will automatically get
a FREE P.O.D. wallpaper for your phone.
You can sign up two ways, one is to Text POD to
66937 once you do that, you will receive a text
welcoming you, and asking you to confirm by replying
with a Y. The other way to sign up is to click
on the Mozes link below.
We know everyone or at least your parents might
have questions about cost. Standard text message
rates apply. So if you have unlimited text messaging,
no worries texting won't cost you a dime. But
if you get charged a certain amount per text or
after you go over a certain amount then you will
get charged. It just won't be anything extra beyond
that, whatever your carrier charges.
